The Pat Pattison seminar was a huge success for all participants. Pat used his unique teaching style to provide priceless information while creating a personal and relaxed atmosphere.
On Saturday morning Pat asked each participant the question "Who are you, and what do you want from me?". Each one of the attendees was able to introduce themselves and a background to their songwriting, and could ask specific questions about where they face challenges in their songwriting. All these questions were answered by Pat, providing the answers not only to the individual , but involving the entire class.
This created a very relaxed team atmosphere that was maintained throughout the remainder of the seminar.
Saturday afternoon Pat started teaching about "Writing Better Lyrics", an eye-opening session, where everyone learned a new tools and approaches to the craft of creating a song.
On Sunday afternoon Pat critiqued a songs by each participant, where he was able to show how to get to the next level in their songwriting process.
We are looking forward to welcome Pat again on his next trip to the UK.
Welcome to the NSAI UK Blog.
We held our first meeting on Sunday, 26 March 2006 from 2pm until 4pm in Merton Abbey Mills.
This first meeting was mostly a "getting to know each other" meeting, to find out where we all are as songwriters, and what the members of the group are hoping to achieve from the NSAI UK.
The room was genourosly supplied by Surrey Strings (Thank you very much!!!), and was equipped with everything that we could have asked for.
The attendees included:
Jae Avery - NSAI UK Coordinator
Jeffrey Backus - NSAI UK Coordinator
Kate Feinstein - Songwriter
Catherine Rushton - NSAI Member
Graham Rodgers - NSAI Member, travelled all the way from Sheffield
Fionulla Kearney - Lyricist
Murray Webster - NSAI Member
Peter. - musician, trying to learn about Songwriting
Through the meeting we determined that most of the attendees are looking to improve their lyric writing skills.
We also talked about possibilities to have guest speakers come to the meetings in person, and via our online chat room. We also talked about the upcoming seminar with Pat Pattison in May. More details to be provided soon.
